Professional Training and Background

Dr. Michael Sorah is a chiropractor licensed by the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Dr. Sorah has been treating patients in the Corvallis area since he graduated Cum Laude from Western States Chiropractic College in 1995. He had previously graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from Columbia Christian College. He received his Massage Therapist credentials from the Southwest Washington School of Massage and completed Advanced Studies in Whiplash Trauma at the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. He is also certified in Impairment Rating, a tool for evaluating the level of permanent damage a patient has suffered. Dr. Sorah has a particular interest and expertise in Exercise Rehabilitation as well as diet/nutrition.

From his early days of formal training in Chiropractic, Dr. Sorah had always envisioned a multi-disciplinary center comprised of complimentary and alternative medicine providers. Since entering his profession, he has steadily gathered together an integrated team of experts, making that vision a reality at the Northwest Health and Healing Center.

Treatment Philosophy

0601_0406Dr. Sorah believes in treating the whole person. He thoroughly evaluates spinal and extremity joints and soft tissue structures, as well as reviews a person’s health history and other bodily systems to determine the root cause of a patient’s symptoms/disease/injury. He then identifies appropriate treatment, which may include manipulation, soft tissue therapies, exercise, stretching, ergonomic and/or nutritional recommendations. He is also able to recognize when the issue is outside of his scope of expertise and a referral is needed for further diagnostic work-up and treatment.

Outside of Work

Dr. Sorah is an active family man with a wife and three kids. He is also serves as a deacon at a local church. He is an avid exercise enthusiast, and enjoys combining elements of Crossfit and traditional lifting techniques. Exercise is also his primary hobby. Another passion/hobby of his is diet/nutrition. He enjoys incorporating elements of the Paleo diet and low carb diet into his own nutrition regimen.
