Dr Deborah Nixdorf, ND, LAc Naturopathic Medicine and Acupuncture Mon - Fri, 8am - 5:30pm, by appointment Professional: Dr. Deborah Nixdorf is a licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist in the state of Oregon. Dr. Nixdorf completed her medical training in addition to her residency at the esteemed National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon. Her specialties include endocrine and autoimmune disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, neurological conditions and women's health including infertility. Dr. Nixdorf offers a myriad of modalities including, lifestyle changes, clinical nutrition, acupuncture, botanicals, biotherapeutic drainage, hydrotherapy, flower essences, Bowen Therapy and homeopathy. Dr. Nixdorf is fluent in both English and Spanish. Treatment Philosophy: Healthy choices sustain healthy change for you, those you inspire & the environment. When in health, one is free of physical, mental and spiritual obstacles allowing for balance and harmony to dominate. Dr. Nixdorf synthesizes modern diagnostic techniques with ancient Chinese medical diagnostics to identify and treat the root cause of her patients' ailments. In her practice, Dr. Nixdorf focuses on the root cause, versus the management of symptoms, to facilitate health and healing. She treats on an individualist basis, taking the time necessary to know her patients. Empowering individuals to reclaim their health and wellness is at the heart of Dr. Nixdorf's practice. Dr. Nixdorf supports and challenges her patients to tap into their full potential allowing them to live more abundantly. Dr. Nixdorf recognized that daily self-care is the key to accessing wellness and thus provides tools for patients to become actively involved in their healing journey. To further provide the best patient care possible, Dr. Nixdorf supports collaborating with other health care professionals. Background: Dr. Nixdorf grew up in a small coastal town in Rhode Island. She is grateful to her mother for her teachings on gardening organically and eating seasonal and local foods. Dr. Nixdorf was introduced to the field of medicine in the early 80's when she volunteered at the first HIV clinic in the area. She then spent her college summers working in a drug rehabilitation clinic and her Spring breaks volunteering in impoverished US disaster areas. Dr. Deborah Nixdorf received her BS in biology/chemistry and Spanish in 1996 from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. During college, Dr. Nixdorf spent a semester studying Spanish in Guadalajara, Mexico, which led to her work in North Carolina and Florida with migrant farmworkers. After several years as a medical interpreter, outreach coordinator and health educator in migrant clinics on the east coast, Dr. Nixdorf decided to continue her academic pursuits at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Nixdorf enjoys traveling, biking, hiking, running, gardening, dancing and sampling the local fresh produce of the Pacific Northwest with her husband Oscar and their black lab, Luna.
