Training, Education, & Experience: Adam received his Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University in 2005. Since then he has been working with teens, adults, and families in a variety of settings: schools, outpatient clinics, church settings, and even wilderness therapy. He is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC I), trained to assess and treat various substance abuse issues.

Treatment Philosophy: Treating a person's emotional and mental health is just as important as their physical health. Emotional stress plays out in physical ways, and many people feel these stresses, but do not have the skills to appropriately deal with it.

I also believe maintaining a healthy spirituality is an important and often overlooked part of everyday life. As a Christian Counselor, I understand the importance of spirituality in overall mental health. I respect all faiths and cultures, striving to accomodate each client's individual belief system.

My particular approach to therapy is more like routine maintenance, similar to going to a doctor for a check-up. In many cases I see people in crisis situations or simply wanting some outside perspective on their situation. I believe that people are generally doing the best they can with what they have, however at various points in life, everyone can use an additional viewpoint on a complicated situation.

What to Expect from a Visit With Me: My general approach to counseling is a short-term model called "Brief Therapy". Sessions are one hour in length and typically a client would come for 5 to 8 sessions.

Additionally, I look at counseling in a solution-focused way, where I bring to the surfaces strengths and skills you already have. This provides an opportunity for you to take control and break patterns of behavior you may be trapped in.
